Positive behaviour
Good work and behaviour is rewarded by form points (or stars) for the individual and these in turn may lead to a merit, which counts towards the House trophy.
A blue Distinction Card is the highest award - the school's formal recognition of positive behaviour, excellent effort, courtesy - in fact all those things we approve of. Distinctions are recorded in a Roll of Honour book and in a child's report.
Other achievements are celebrated in Assembly and in the presentation of certificates or awards at the end of term. Lyndhurst's Summer Prizegiving is the highlight of the year in this regard.
In tune with children
Lyndhurst has a strong musical tradition and we want our pupils to enjoy music and music making. All forms have timetabled music lessons and individual music tuition for all age groups can be arranged in most instruments. In Year 4, Lyndhurst offers all pupils to change to play an instrument and subsidises the cost of lessons and the hire of certain instruments.
The Lyndhurst orchestra plays at concerts and school events while the Lyndhurst choir meets twice a week to practice and takes part in a number of concerts throughout the year.
Outside the classroom
Trips and visits are an extension of the classroom and each year group takes part in a curriculum-related visit each term. Year 4 take part in the first of a series of field trips that include an overnight stay at an outdoor education centre in the Yorkshire Dales. Year 6 pupils also enjoy a visit to this centre where they take part in team challenges and outdoor pursuits.
Lyndhurst also hosts activities at lunchtime and after school. These vary according to age range and the time of year but generally include: art, computers, choir, drama, chess, orchestra, trampoline, video making, swimming and sports coaching sessions.
