Lyndhurst School - Outside the Classroom
Trips and visits
Trips and visits are an extension of the classroom.
They encourage seeing, doing and taking part. We try to create opportunities for
pupils to realise something about themselves, to build up confidence and
teamwork.
Year groups take part in a curriculum-related visit each term. Year 4 take part in the first of a series of field trips that include an overnight stay at an outdoor education centre in the Yorkshire Dales. Year 6 pupils also enjoy a visit to this centre where they take part in team challenges and outdoor pursuits.
Lyndhurst is ideally situated to make use of the many excellent attractions in this area of Yorkshire, as well as wider afield. York, Hull, Malton, the coast, Bradford and Sheffield are just some of the locations visited.
There are trips to the theatre - both in London and locally. During the Easter holiday some Lyndhurst pupils may take part in a ski trip organised by the Senior School. Older pupils will have the opportunity for a trip to France during Easter.
Other Activities
Many of our children travel some distance to school and need to catch buses home, so we have activities at lunchtimes and also after school. These will vary according to age-range (and the time of the year) but generally include: Art club, computer club, choir, drama, chess, orchestra, trampoline, video making, swimming and sports/team coaching sessions
