Lyndhurst School - Taking Care

Taking CareLyndhurst is a small and caring community. We believe in being positive and encouraging.

Pupils may turn to any adult with whom they feel comfortable when they have a problem but generally the form teacher is the first person in the line of care. He or she will teach a pupil for a large proportion of the day, especially in the early years, and will be there for registration and at the end of the day.

Form teachers may contact parents if they have any worries about a child and will be equally happy to receive information from parents about any worries or information that may help explain changes in behaviour at home or at school.

If a child feels unwell during the day or needs any particular medical care they will be taken to the Lyndhurst matron. Matron deals with all matters relating to a pupil’s health and medical requirements and can call upon the school’s medical centre or the Pocklington Health Centre for assistance. She will take such action as is necessary and will contact parents if the situation requires it.

Matron also helps in the classroom, so she gets to know the children well. They will often turn to her for comfort.
