OP Boxing Day Rugby 2009
Saturday 26th December

The Old Pocklingtonians traditional Boxing Day match with Pocklington
Town RUFC fell foul of the snow, but the two sides decided if they could
not go ahead with a full-on contact rugby match then a more light-
hearted rugby session was better than nothing.
The day drew Pocklington School old boys from several eras for their annual festive reunion, and the touch game went ahead with numerous stars from the present and past, including a notable contingent of old boys who have won junior international and county honours, through to present members of the school team.
Both sides got into the spirit of the game displaying their full range of handling skills with plenty of enthusiasm and good humour. In the end the town out-scored the school by 4 tries to 3, with Martin Scott (2), Henry Mitchell (1991-2002) and Mark Stringer racing over for Pocklington, and Sandy Mitchell (1989-2000), Matt Webber (1994-2002) and Andrew Wilson (1989-1999) using their guile to cross for the OPs.
OP London Reunion 2009
Friday 4th December 2009, The Cabinet War Rooms, London
A record number (90!) of OPs and their guests gathered at the prestigious Cabinet War Rooms for the annual London dinner. After a drinks reception guests had the opportunity to visit the museum before dinner was served in the HCA Auditorium. Rob Rowntree (1981-1986) gave a short pre-dinner talk about the school, OPs and their links with the armed forces before paying tribute with a few moments of quiet reflection.
A wonderful 3-course meal was followed by after-dinner speeches from the Headmaster, Mark Ronan, and Tom Nash (1968-1977), President of the OPA, in which he thanked previous committee members Mark East, Chris de Jong and Joan Gough for all their hard work over the last 6 years and looked ahead to the restructuring of the OPA with more emphasis on welfare, career networking and support, and the new OP for Life ethos.
A great evening was had by all with tables arranged by year group to maximise enjoyment and common experience, although in the end it didn’t really matter as everyone circulated and chatted with others right across the generations. It is hoped that the London event will become one of the major highlights of the OP social calendar - don’t miss it!

OP Leeds Reunion 2009
Saturday 17 October 2009, 3 Albion Place (formerly The Leeds Club)
The beautiful surroundings of 3 Albion Place provided an ideal venue once again for the Leeds dinner which is now establishing itself as an annual event. Guests included Malcolm Milne (1955-1962), OP and former staff member, who was warmly welcomed by OPA Vice-President Andrew Wilson (1989-1999).
