Pocklington School - Academic Matters
Pocklington
is proud of its academic reputation and continuing examination success.
The 2011 Sixth Form leavers at Pocklington School had 64.5% of their entries graded either A*, A or B. The overall pass rate was 100%.
95.6% of Pocklington pupils achieved 5 A* to C passes, including mathematics and English, in 2011. All pupils sit the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) in mathematics.
Our curriculum starts in our first year with a wide range of subjects covering all academic and artistic disciplines. Pupils make option decisions at the start of the third year and final GCSE choices at the start of the fourth year. Pupils would normally do four AS subjects in the lower sixth and drop to three A levels although a number of pupils continue all four through to the end of the course. There is wide flexibility in the timetable to allow most options of subjects at this level including a number of subjects not offered at GCSE.
