University & Careers Advice
The
school has a well equipped careers library adjacent to the Pocklington
School library.
Careers advice is available to students on
request four days a week from our Careers and University Adviser Dr
Rachel Farrar. Dr Farrar is also available for
consultations with parents by appointment. Email:
farrarr@pocklingtonschool.com to book an appointment.
All students participate in a structured
programme of careers advice starting with pre-GCSE choices and
continuing on a one-to-one basis in the sixth form until they leave
school. Specialist support is also provided by other
academic colleagues for university applications, Oxbridge candidates and
applicants for medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry and those
students wishing to plan a gap year.
In addition the Old Pocklington Association
offers an OP Careers Network to help current and former students find
work placements, advice or mentoring in specific career sectors.
Those interested in exploring this option should contact Mrs
Rachel Dare in the OP Office. Her email address is
darer@pocklingtonschool.com
