The School organises a number of events for the whole Pocklington School community to enjoy. In October 2016 we had the inaugural Pocklingtonian Sports Dinner with special guest speaker, former Yorkshire and England cricket captain and Ashes winner Michael Vaughan OBE. Michael took part in a fascinating and entertaining after-dinner Q & A session hosted by Old Pocklingtonian Marcus Townend (72-82), the award winning Daily Mail Racing Correspondent.
Over 120 guests enjoyed the evening which celebrated a long history of sport at the school. A specially created timeline of some of Pocklington School’s sporting achievers through the ages was on display, along with a collection of sports photographs from the school archive and a booklet of current pupils identified as ‘rising stars’ in their chosen sport.
The highlight of the evening was the Q & A session with Michael, who gave a frank and open insight into his playing career; his skills as a professional presenter and seasoned raconteur came to the fore as he entertained guests with amusing stories and anecdotes. The Sports Dinner is set to become a biennial event, with the next one due to take place in 2018.
There is also an Annual Pocklingtonian Golf Day, every June, which is held at the Oaks Golf Club, nr. Bubwith. Further details are published in the Spring prior to the event and will be available from Rachel Dare by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Other future social events will be promoted on the school website and via our social media.
