Welcome to Lyndhurst School’s website, which I hope will give you an idea about how much fun our pupils have in their learning.
Lyndhurst is a happy and thriving community of young learners and it is privilege to share their enthusiasm for all the opportunities available here. Our aim at Lyndhurst is to give our children the care and encouragement they need to flourish into confident boys and girls who are inspired for life-long learning.
We aim to offer children the best possible start to their education and to maintain a welcoming safe atmosphere in which children quickly feel at home and make friendships that will grow and develop as they move on through Lyndhurst and Pocklington Schools.
All staff work hard to make learning fun: something that takes place not only in the classroom but elsewhere around school where children have opportunities to participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities and develop independence and initiative.
Ultimately education is a partnership between school and parents. In addition to the many day pupils who attend this school, we are privileged to be trusted with the care of a number of young boarders for whom school is home during term time and others who board on a more casual basis to fit in with family or work commitments.
Boarding facilities are excellent here, good pastoral care ensures that children feel safe and comfortable and a dedicated evening and weekend boarding activity programme makes boarding an exciting option. Here I must declare an interest. Wendy, my wife and I are respectively Housemistress and Housemaster of the junior boys’ boarding house called Dolman.
The only way to experience the enthusiasm and vibrancy of this school is to visit. There are 180 young people who would be delighted to show you their school and tell you and your family all about it. We look forward to meeting you soon.
