Pocklington Prep School

Year 3 to Year 6

Exploring, adapting and growing

As your child continues their journey through school, our curriculum and expectations grow and change to ensure that your child has the best possible education and is equipped to take advantage of the opportunities available here.

In order to effect a smooth transition from Pre-Prep to Prep, our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils are taught predominantly by their form tutors. Children enjoy specialist teaching in French, music, ICT, PE and art, as well as an interesting curriculum based around the termly topic.

In Years 5 and 6 the timetable places a greater emphasis on specialist subject teaching and setting in English and maths. Children play in competitive sports and attend regular fixtures across a range of disciplines, allowing every child to enjoy the feeling of personal success and being part of a supportive team.

We aim for the highest academic standards, continuing to cultivate a love for learning, curiosity, creativity, enthusiasm and resourcefulness, which make a perfect platform for an easy transition to Pocklington Senior School.

Resources that support and inspire

Our warm and welcoming classrooms provide a stimulating learning environment where your child will feel safe and supported. With access to a dedicated ICT suite, library and individual music practice rooms, children can maximise their learning.

Children in Pocklington Prep make full use of acres of playing fields and sports pitches, our swimming pool and wildlife areas. They also have access to an amazing theatre where annual productions receive excellent reviews and give everyone the opportunity to shine, either on stage or behind the scenes.

In partnership with class teachers, our dedicated learning support team monitors the progress of every pupil and offers support where required, to ensure that every child achieves their full potential.
