OP Jodie Hill (00-06), the Leeds-based employment lawyer, is delighted to have been appointed by the Law Society to sit as a member of its Employment Law Committee.
Jodie’s appointment, announced in August, draws upon her experience as a practitioner in the field of employment and HR law, advising both employers and employees, and builds on Thrive Law’s recent selection by the Solicitors Regulation Authority as a principal provider of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) mentoring support to small and medium sized law practices.
Max Winthrop, outgoing chair of the Law Society’s Employment Law Committee commented, “I was really impressed with Jodie’s achievements at a time in her career when many of us are still just finding our feet professionally. Setting up your own firm is never easy, and being able to combine a successful practice with Jodie’s active advocacy for mental health issues [with her #OneMind campaign] while demonstrating a real commitment to neuro diversity is particularly impressive.
“These are challenging times for the profession, for solicitors and for employment lawyers and I have no doubt that Jodie’s abilities will be a significant asset to the work of the Committee in the coming months.”
Jodie said: “Being a part of this committee means I will be at the forefront of changes and consultations which are inevitable and undoubtedly going to be challenging during the current climate of Covid-19, Black Lives Matter, Me Too, Brexit and many other issues. I am excited to take on this important role and I am looking forward to getting started.”
The role will mean regular trips to the Law Society’s grade II listed Chancery Lane base in London although everything is being done virtually for now.
Thrive Law has also been shortlisted for prestigious Law Society Excellence Awards in the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion category.

The winners will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony in October.
The school was very grateful to Jodie for taking time out of her busy schedule in September to lead a Sixth Form symposium on the power of networking.
