The Music Scholarship programme aims to recognise and develop musical excellence, develop performance and compositional skills and develop the necessary attributes to prosper as a musician in a demanding, competitive field as a professional or amateur.
A maximum of six music scholarships are awarded annually to the value of 5% of the day fees per annum. A scholarship is tenable for the duration of the pupil's time at Pocklington School, subject to satisfactory musical progress, contribution and behaviour.
The entry points with typical standards of achievement at time of application are:
|Year Group||First Instrument|
|First Year||Grade 3/4|
|Third Year||Grade 5|
|Fourth Year||Grade 5/6|
Candidates will be assessed by performance and interview. Auditions for the scholarships will be held in the Lent term. Pupils interested in applying for a Music Scholarship should contact the Director of Music, Mr Sam Austin, to arrange an audition.
Please note that those candidates who do not yet study a second instrument will be expected to begin lessons in a second study in order to broaden their musical experience.
