Learning Support

Here at Pocklington Prep School, we nurture, inspire and encourage all pupils to achieve their goals and reach their potential.

Our team is led by the SENCo, Amy Pimm BA Hons PGCE

The Learning Support team at Pocklington Prep School are extensively experienced and work across the Pre-school, Pre-Prep and Prep school. By supporting children’s learning throughout their entire journey from 2 – 11 years, with a clear understanding of child development, we are able to effectively scaffold children to excel and track their achievements. We promote a passion for learning, in an inspirational environment, where children are enabled to progress in an exciting and motivating way.

Interventions are targeted, reviewed and implemented for each child’s individual needs with a focus on personalised learning. These can be categorised into broad areas of need.

Cognition and Learning – maths, reading (comprehension, phonics and fluency), writing and spelling.

Social and Emotional – friendship skills, recognising and managing emotions.

Communication and Interaction – speech and language.

Sensory and Physical – fine and gross motor skills interventions.

Alongside this, we support a range of other SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) within the school including (but not limited to) ASC (autism), dyscalculia, and ADHD.

If you would like to get in touch to discuss your child’s needs and find out how we can support their journey through Pocklington Prep School please email Amy Pimm (SENCo/Learning Support Coordinator) at pimma@pocklingtonschool.com .
