Healthy Eating at Pocklington

We understand the importance of fuelling our pupils with the best nutrition to support their growth, learning and overall wellbeing.

Nourishing young minds with fresh,
local produce

We offer a first-rate dining service that prioritises fresh, high quality ingredients to prepare meals that are not just delicious, but also nourishing. We believe that the best meals begin with the best ingredients. That’s why we are committed to sourcing our ingredients locally whenever possible, supporting our community’s farmers and ensuring that the food we serve is fresh and has travelled minimal distances to reach our plates.

Each meal at Pocklington School is prepared from scratch by our skilled catering team. From the chopping of vegetables to the baking of bread, we take the time to ensure that our meals are crafted with care and precision. This approach allows us to offer food that is not only tastier, but also better for our pupils’ health.

Catering for every need

Our menu is carefully designed to offer a wide range of options that meet the dietary requirements of our diverse pupil body, ensuring that every pupil, regardless of their dietary needs, can enjoy a wholesome meal. From classic dishes to more adventurous options, there’s something for everyone to enjoy, including a daily choice of freshly prepared soup, main courses, pasta sauces, desserts and a vibrant salad bar with speciality breads.

We recognise the importance of a nutritious breakfast in preparing our pupils for a productive day ahead. Our Dining Hall opens before the school day starts to offer a variety of breakfast options for a small charge. No booking is necessary, allowing for those extra minutes in bed when pupils need them!

Food brings our
community together

Meal times are not just for fuelling hungry bodies and minds; they provide time in the day to relax and socialise. Our catering team takes every opportunity to bring fun to the Dining Hall, including celebration of special dates in the calendar with international suppers themed to reflect the joy and diversity of our School community and transformation of the Dining Hall into settings from favourite children’s novels for World Book Day.
