Careers and University
Whatever your aspirations beyond school, you will receive one-to-one guidance and careers advice from our excellent specialist Careers Service.
This includes individual careers meetings, support for university applications, CV support, interview skills, academic scholarships and GAP year advice.
Since no two students are the same, you will find our one-to-one support, tailored to your individual needs, to be invaluable in guiding you through the difficult decision-making process which faces all Sixth Form students in their last years at school.
Individual meetings can be arranged with Mrs Jones, our careers and university adviser, at any time throughout your Sixth Form career. Parents can also attend these meetings if they so wish. In addition parents and students have the opportunity to meet with Mrs Jones at our Sixth Form Parents’ Evenings.
There are three areas where we provide more specialist advice.
- Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy and Nursing.
- Applicants to the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford are supported by Miss Young.
- Mrs Jones is available for any student wanting help planning their Gap Year or who is intending to study abroad.
Sixth Form students are guided through their university applications via a structured programme in conjunction with their tutor and Housemaster/mistress. All Sixth Form students will have the opportunity to attend various presentations regarding options post-18. These include apprenticeships, school leaver training programmes, Gap Year options and studying abroad. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with representatives from various job sectors to help with their career planning as well as being given the option to attend CV and interview workshops.
Help is available on A Level Results Day if you need assistance in checking your university place, or want to find a place in Adjustment or Clearing.
